LMi.net MX BACKUP

If you run your own mail server, it's good advice to always have a backup mail server at the ready in case your mail server experiences an outage. But there's no need to purchase and configure an additional mail server - LMi.net can provide this MX (Mail eXchange) backup service.

We'll list our mail server as the secondary MX in your DNS zone file. Then if your server experiences an outage, all the mail for your domain will spool up on our backup server. Our server will attempt to contact your server at regular intervals. Once your server is back online, our server will deliver all the spooled mail to your server. Your mail does not bounce ("return to sender") unless your mail server is down for more than 5 days.
